A young girl was saved from frigid waters after falling through frozen water while playing with her siblings in Vermont. This is all due to the help of a state trooper who plunged into the icy pond in a daring rescue against time.

Bodycam footage was recently released and posted by MY NBC5-WPTZ. This displayed trooper Michelle Archer going into the water with a rope and floatation device to reach an 8-year-old girl after her sister was saved by an elderly neighbor.

Archer swam for the little girl and told her, “It’s OK, baby,” when she got to her. She shouted for another trooper to call rescue as he arrived.

Archer got the girl to the bank, where the child began moaning. The neighbor who helped the first child aided the troopers in getting the girl off the snowy ground.

The second trooper then carried the girl to the ambulance, which had pulled up during the rescue.

Once the girl was secure, Archer asked the neighbor, ‘How’s the other one?”

He said, “She’s cold.”

“Is she alert?” Archer asked.

“She’s walking around,” he replied, noting how he called for help as soon as he got her to safety.

According to Police 1, the girl and her sister had fallen in on Dec. 17, but the nearby 80-year-old homeowner was only able to save one of the children before calling for help.

Archer arrived on the scene in less than five minutes, and the little girl was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

She was treated, but is now home safe after making a full recovery.

The Vermont state police praised the rescuers “for their selfless, heroic conduct” and noted that “all three have been recommended to receive the agency’s Lifesaving Award.”
