The Utah Jazz basketball team announced it would play its first preseason game in Hawaii and the proceeds going towards a Maui fund.

The Utah Jazz, a professional basketball team, announced in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the team would be playing its first preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers in Oahu, Hawaii.

Donations from game will go towards the Maui Strong Fund to help people affected by the wildfires that have devastated the town of Lahaina.

“The Utah Jazz will play the LA Clippers in their first preseason game on October 8 in Oahu, with all proceeds going to the Maui Strong Fund to benefit wildfire relief,” the basketball team wrote.

Jazz officials said the team was “proud to partner with the Clippers on this trip that will be so much bigger than basketball.”

The team will reportedly travel to Hawaii where they will practice for five days, after which they will play the game against the LA Clippers on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. MT, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

The Utah Jazz will practice on the campus of Brigham Young University in Hawaii while the LA Clippers will be practicing on the University of Hawaii, according to the outlet.
