Trump Signs ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Into Law

US President Donald Trump (C) shows his signature on the "Big Beautiful Bill Act" at the White House in Washington, DC, on July 4, 2025. US President Donald Trump signed his flagship tax and spending bill on July 4 in a pomp-laden Independence Day ceremony featuring fireworks and a flypast by the type of stealth bomber that bombed Iran. Trump pushed Republican lawmakers to get his unpopular "One Big Beautiful Bill" through a reluctant Congress in time for him to sign it into law on the US national holiday -- and they did so with a day to spare Thursday. One might say the “big, beautiful bill” is now the big, beautiful law.

That is because President Donald Trump signed his spending bill at the White House during the Fourth of July celebrations Friday.

The legislation includes huge cuts to government benefits such as Medicaid and more funding for immigration enforcement, ABC News reported.

“We’re adding things like the biggest tax cut in the history of our country, a child tax credit. So many things are being added that we wouldn’t even have time to discuss them when we were doing it,” Trump said.

The president touted the spending cuts included in the bill.

“It includes the largest tax cut in American history, the largest spending cut $1.7 trillion. And yet you won’t even notice it. Just waste, fraud and abuse in American history,” he said.

The bill signing wasn’t the only thing that happened at the event — there was a flyover that happened before the signing.

During his speech Friday, Trump lauded the efforts of the military, pointing out the bombing mission in Iran on June 22.

“We didn’t have any crashes. We didn’t lose any planes. We didn’t lose anybody. Those beautiful planes that you saw were totally stealth. They flew right over the center of a very hostile country, and they never even saw it coming,” Trump said.

Many Democrats spoke out against the bill and how it may ultimately adversely affect poorer Americans, especially those on Medicaid or live in rural areas.

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries gave an eight-hour, 44-minute speech Thursday in an attempt to delay the House’s vote.

“We wanted to make sure that the American people had an opportunity to fully and more completely understands, in the light of day, just how damaging this one big, ugly bill will be to the American people,” he said.

Trump shot back at Jeffries, calling the Democratic Party’s rhetoric about the bill a “con job.”

“They’ve developed a standard line, ‘We can’t let them get away with it. Oh, it’s dangerous. Oh, everybody’s going to die.’ It’s actually just the opposite. Everybody’s going to live,” Trump said.
