James Comer has publicly expressed interest in having the House Ethics Committee examine both Omar’s finances and any ties she may have had to the “Feeding Our Future” fraud case.

Trump also criticized Minnesota’s handling of federal immigration enforcement, questioning whether the state “really want murderers and drug dealers to be ensconced in their community.” 

Michael Rubin, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, said the contrast between Somalia and Somaliland is especially relevant as details of the fraud cases emerge.

The alleged stop comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement increases activity in Minnesota following a massive fraud scandal tied to abuse of public assistance programs.
