Former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) appears to be thriving with his Cameo career after being kicked out of Congress.

During an interview with CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer, Santos revealed the idea of joining the celebrity messaging service Cameo was inspired by a former staffer for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

“He reached out and said, ‘George, you have such a large personality, the people love you, you should just open a Cameo.'”

After playing a montage of Santos’ Cameo videos, Kramer noted he has a “sort of deprecating humor..”

She also pointed out that the former congressman’s rates for a Cameo video have increased fairly significantly since he joined the service.

“You started charging what, $75? And now it’s $500,” Kramer said.

Kramer asked how much money he has made since joining Cameo and if he would make more than what he would have with his Congressional salary.

“I can tell you that by the end of this week that is actually factual. I will have made more money in seven days than I would have made [in] an entire year in Congress,” Santos responded.

Kramer said Santos’ salary in Congress was $174,000.

Santos explained most of the time he is reading from a script, but he does make some additions.

He also revealed he has turned down some requests with content that was “very vile… pro-Hamas stuff.”

Santos was expelled from the House earlier this month following a scathing report by the chamber’s ethics committee.
