Rock Legend Rod Stewart announced he no longer wants to put out rock ‘n’ roll music.

In a recent interview with “BBC Breakfast,” Stewart, 78, revealed he wants to venture out into new musical genres.

“I am actually stopping,” he said. “I’m not retiring but I want to move on.”

He added, “I had great success with ‘The Great American Songbook‘… and I’ve just done a swing album with Jools Holland, which is going to come out next year, so I want to go in that direction.”

The “Hot Legs” singer said he wanted to “leave all the rock ‘n’ roll music behind, for a while, maybe.”

While this may be “kind of an end of an era,” a statement suggested by host Charlie Stayt, Stewart has already made peace with it.

“Everything has to come to an end sooner or later,” he said.

Stewart also assured he was in a “good place” with the new transition.

“I’m really looking forward to doing something else, especially singing with Jools’ band,” he said. “It borders on rock ‘n’ roll anyway, it’s just not ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?'”

For his Global Hits Tour, Stewart will be performing two shows at Edinburgh Castle on July 6 and 7, which will be his first performance there in 13 years, according to Yahoo.

In an interview with Readers Digest in January, Stewart opened up about his career of more than 50 years and explained how his tours differ from how they used to be.

“They’re not as wild as they were. In the old days it was all shagging and drinking, but you can’t carry on like that,” he shared.

He added, “I haven’t joined the pipe-and-slippers club yet, but I have to look after my voice.”

In an interview with the Associated Press in 2018, Stewart said he was in awe of his long-standing career every day.

“I never take it for granted. I really don’t,” he added.

Furthermore, Stewart called it “the best job in the world.”

“I know that’s an old cliche, but it really is. (President Donald) Trump thinks he’s got a good job. I’ve really got a great job,” he said.
