Nick Reiner is seeking to tap into his trust fund to help pay his legal fees.

Reiner, 32, is charged with murdering his parents, director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner in December.

He filed a petition Monday in a Los Angeles County court requesting money from a trust fund established in his name.

The petition alleged trustees overseeing the funds have denied them to Reiner without legal justification. The petition stated he needs and should get them so he can pay his legal fees.

“Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths. But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation,” the petition reads. “Like anyone accused of a crime, Nick is presumed innocent, and he is entitled to mount his defense with the resources that are lawfully his own.”

The petition claims one-half of the trust was to be distributed to Nick “outright when he turned 30.” The remainder would be dispersed when he turned 35.

It also states Reiner did not get the money he when he turned 30.

The trust is estimated to be $1.5 million in assets.

Director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their California home Dec. 14, 2025.

Nick Reiner was arrested and pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

He is scheduled to be back in court for a pretrial hearing in September.

If he is convicted, Reiner faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman said his office has not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty.
