Former U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) soccer player Megan Rapinoe described playing for the team as being the “worst job in the world.”

In a newly released Netflix documentary, “Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team,” Rapinoe made that comment, citing the high pressures and demands that come with playing for the team, according to the Washington Examiner.

“I always say it’s the worst job in the world because if you do your job, then you were supposed to, and if you do one hair less, then you are gonna get lambasted for it,” Rapinoe said.

While Rapinoe had strong feelings about playing for the USWNT, she described playing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, as being “special” as it would be her last one.

“I think it’s just such a different feeling knowing that this is going to be my last World Cup, being kind of an old head and having a different role on the team,” Rapinoe said. “It means a lot to me in a lot of different ways than the other ones did. Yeah, this one’s very special.”

Rapinoe previously claimed that there was no God after she was forced to leave the last professional match of her career during the National Women’s Soccer League Championship due to a noncontact injury to her right leg.

Throughout her career, Rapinoe was known for being vocal about several political and social issues.

In 2021, Rapinoe called for gender pay equity for female soccer players, noting that women’s soccer has “filled stadiums, broken viewing records, and sold out jerseys.”

Rapinoe has also spoken out against parents who oppose transgender athletes, telling them to “get a grip” and pointing out the high levels of drug abuse, mental health, depression, and suicide rates in transgender athletes.
