Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is slated to host a virtual campaign event in Hollywood, California, that will be co-chaired by actresses Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling,

While the event does not have a set time or date as of yet, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a number of prominent celebrity figures that are co-chairing the event including: “Nicole Avant, former U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas and wife of Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, and Ambassador Colleen Bell, director of the California Film Commission,” as well as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes, Tory Burch, and many others.

It has been reported that the fundraiser can range from $500 for guests tickets up to $50,000 for donors categorized as “Champions” and $100,000 for those co-chairing the event. The maximum donation allowed is $730,600 per donor. All funds will be donated to the Biden Victory Fund.

On Thursday, Bell released a statement their her reaction to Biden selecting Harris as his running mate.

“Whoever the nominee, we were prepared to gather people from all over the country to show our enthusiastic support,” Bell said in the statement.

She continued, “Now, the VP candidate is Kamala … so this is very exciting. It is a historic moment, and I am thrilled to help lead the charge to harness all the support we possibly can to make sure Senator Harris and VP Biden are elected.”

The announcement of the virtual campaign comes just days after Biden and Harris made their first public appearance together this week. As they prepare to hit the campaign trail together, Democratic lawmakers have shown their support for the political duo.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), and many others have commended Biden for his decision as they explained why Harris is the best person for the position, as previously reported on IJR.

Pelosi said, “Let’s recognize her not only as the first woman of color to be vice president but the best possible person he could have chosen to proceed into this election and, of course, to win and serve the American people.”
