Country music star Trace Adkins confirmed he has no intention of apologizing for his support of former President Donald Trump.

Adkins made his feelings clear during an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time” with Bill Maher while discussing his new show, “Monarch” which airs on Fox.

Included in the panel of guests were journalist Julia Ioffe along with writer and historian Jon Meacham. The latter addressed Adkins and Maher on the issue of Republicans’ continued support for Trump saying, “I think when you launch an attack on the Capitol and you undermine the one thing we’ve got that enables this other experiment to go on.”

“And I’m not saying the other side’s perfect, but I think a lot of Republicans, see if you agree with this, I think a lot of Republicans who don’t like Trump want forgiveness, but they don’t wanna repent,” Meachem went on.

Following Meacham’s comment Maher interjected, “Yeah. Well, we don’t have to answer that,” while turning to Adkins.

The country singer didn’t seem to have an problem answering the question saying, “I ain’t asking forgiveness for sh*t.”

Adkins’s comments solicited laughter from the Hollywood audience, after which Maher said, “Right, and you shouldn’t have to. You didn’t do anything.”

“It’s not personal — it’s policy,” Adkins said.

Adkins has been clear about his support for Trump for some time, even appearing with the former president at a campaign-style rally in Tennessee in 2018.

According to The Associated Press, the pair have been acquaintances for almost 15 years, since Adkins was a finalist on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2008, which was hosted by Trump.

The support of Adkins for Trump’s rally was lauded by Michael Glassner, CEO of Donald J. Trump for President Inc. who said at the time, “As a huge supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project that helps our great veterans, and so many other important charities, Trace will help set the perfect patriotic tone for the rally. This will be a special treat for President Trump’s supporters Tuesday night.”
