The Commander in Chief was greeted with a chorus of boos at the Washington Commanders game Sunday.

President Donald Trump was the first sitting president in about 50 years to attend a regular‑season NFL game. The Commanders lost too the Detroit Lions, 44‑22, per Fox 5 DC.

The boos were heard when Trump appeared on the videoboard in the first half. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was standing next to Trump in the suite.

The boos returned when Trump was introduced at halftime.

Conservative influencer Benny Johnson posted a chip of the fans booing on X.

“Wow. Doesn’t get much more disrespectful than this,” Johnson wrote.

The president led an oath for military recruits at halftime.

Trump later said it was an honor to swear in such a “tremendous group of young people,” Mediaite reported.

Should attendees at sports events express their opinions through boos?

“I’m a little bit late,” Trump said to reporters after stepping off Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews.

A flyover of Northwest Stadium was completed before he landed.

“We’re gonna have a good game. Things are going along very well. The country’s doing well. The Democrats have to open it up,” he said regarding the government shutdown.

Trump spoke with Fox broadcasters Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma in the third quarter for about eight minutes.

Trump was asked about playing high school football at New York Military Academy.

“I played tight end, but it was not quite football like this. It was a little bit easier. It wasn’t so tough,” Trump said.

Trump left before the game was over.

Only two other sitting presidents attended a regular season game — Richard Nixon in 1969 and Jimmy Carter in 1978.

IJR reported over the weekend that Trump wants the team’s new stadium named after him.
