Former Vice President Joe Biden‘s campaign is offering to help local and state governments working to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign wrote in an email sent to local and state officials on Sunday that they have “been receiving a significant number of offers from individuals or organizations eager to support [state and local governments’] efforts to respond to the COVID19 pandemic by donating, volunteering, or otherwise contributing their resources or capacity,” a letter obtained by ABC News.

The letter continued:

“In this moment of national emergency, we are eager to connect those offering help with those in need of it – we would like to provide these individuals and organizations with a way to reach your offices directly.”

The campaign did not say which organizations they were working with who were “offering to help.”

President Donald Trump has consistently been in front of the nation during the coronavirus pandemic — holding daily press briefings in the White House. But Biden only recently returned to the cameras as he has been doing a series of videos from his home in Delaware.

Trump mocked Biden on Twitter on Monday after the former vice president suggested that the DNC hold a virtual convention. The president accused Biden of not wanting to “show up” to a convention and said that, despite reports suggesting that he would, he still has not received a phone call from Biden.

The Delaware politician shot back, “Mr. President, I hope we can gather in Milwaukee, but that is going to depend on you stepping up and doing what needs to be done to handle this pandemic.”

Mr. President, I hope we can gather in Milwaukee, but that is going to depend on you stepping up and doing what needs to be done to handle this pandemic. I have laid out how you can do that: https://t.co/YLHCGEKnUB. Happy to discuss anytime. https://t.co/ePQuQKkeZV

While the 2020 Democratic primary is not over, Biden is viewed as the front-runner after a weak beginning turned into a powerful campaign that pushed ahead of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). The former vice president has even said that he is vetting his vice presidential picks and that he has talked about that process with Sanders.
