Fetterman: The Unlikely Political Goldfish

WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 12: U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) speaks during a hearing on oversight of the Department of Homeland Security before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on February 12, 2026 in Washington, DC. The Department of Homeland Security has faced criticism over law enforcement tactics targeting undocumented immigrants and the killing of two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis. In a delightful twist of political theater, Fox News’ John Roberts confronted Senator John Fetterman with the question that’s been on the lips of every political observer—why on earth doesn’t he switch parties?

Given Fetterman’s apparent discontent with the Democratic establishment, it’s almost a plot twist ripe for a Netflix special. But alas, our man Fetterman has spoken: he’s a steadfast Democrat, and that’s that.

As he rattled off his core beliefs, Fetterman couldn’t help but highlight the disarray within his own party, noting that he must be “politically homeless” because he dares to espouse reasonable views.

There’s a certain charm in his honesty, but let’s not kid ourselves—calling the Democratic Party an “open border party” might just be the understatement of the year. Rather than flipping to the GOP, he’s choosing to mud wrestle in the Democratic pigpen, hoping against hope for a little enlightenment.

But here’s the kicker: Fetterman may be feeling the burn of his party’s “worst urges,” but he’s still a politically wounded deer stuck in the headlights.

Should Senator Fetterman consider switching to the GOP?

His comments about deporting criminals are borderline revolutionary for Democrats these days, yet the party’s ideological straitjacket seems tight enough to make even Fetterman rethink his wardrobe choices. Who knew a man with a heart full of common sense could feel so misplaced in a party that once proudly paraded such ideals?

Let’s raise a glass to Senator Fetterman—our favorite political goldfish swimming upstream against the current. It seems he’ll continue to rough it out with a party that clearly has lost its way, all while audibly wondering just how much longer they can ignore the weight of reality. Cheers to you, Fetterman; may your journey to political sanity be a ship with a sturdy rudder in a sea of chaos!
