Left-wing actor Ben Stiller is facing hypocrisy accusations after walking past a homeless man as if he did not exist outside the New York Knicks game on Wednesday.

A video posted to X by WABC lead sports anchor Ryan Field shows Stiller waving and shaking hands with a fan while he casually strolls past a shirtless homeless man slumped over on the ground. The actor to head toward his seat at Madison Square Garden to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

“Ben Stiller arrived more than 4 hours before tipoff once again,” Field wrote.

Stiller was a supporter of New York City’s Homeless Outreach Population Estimate in 2016 during which he actively recruited people to join the campaign, according to a New York City government press release. Stiller has urged New Yorkers to help with the homelessness crisis and said, ” Are you enjoying home right now? Thousands of others can’t,” in a 2016 video, according to the Daily News.

Stiller is also a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) activist. Which claims to help people who have been forced to leave their homes or are stateless, according to its website.

Stiller met with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2022 as a UNHCR Goodwill ambassador.

“You’re my hero,” Stiller told Zelenskyy.

UNHRC has previously faced a demand to hand over documents detailing how they worked with the Biden Administration to resettle thousands of foreign nationals into the U.S. in 2024.

The video of Stiller sparked backlash as many commenters on X shamed Stiller for not stopping to help the man on the street.

“This is America. Rich celebrity just walks past a guy overdosing on fentanyl,” one X commentor wrote.

“A celeb casually walking by a fentanyl addict on his way to a $100,000 court side ticket is SO 2026,” said another X commentator.

“I don’t have a season ticket. I just get the tickets. The celebrities…(The Knicks) give us tickets,” Stiller said, when asked about his attendance in a pre-game interview with an ESPN reporter, according to AOL.
