Julian Lennon is urging fans to get their health in order after two eye-opening diagnoses.

Lennon’s words of caution come as he revealed he was recently diagnosed with coronary heart disease and pre-diabetes.

The 63-year-old musician, author and philanthropist said the illnesses were caught early enough to “reverse some of the damage.”

He shared the health update in the caption for a carousel of nature photos he shared to Instagram on May 10.

“After being diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease & a Pre-Diabetic, I urge all to get checked out sooner than later,” Lennon wrote, “as you never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much ‘good/healthy’ food as possible.”

Lennon urged people to “Nip it in the bud! As they say…”

Should more people get regular health check-ups for early disease detection?

Lennon is a son of late Beatles guitarist and singer John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia Powell. He has a half brother, Sean Lennon, John’s son with his second wife, Yoko Ono.

Coronary heart disease is a common condition that occurs when there is reduced flow of blood to the heart due to a buildup of plaque and cholesterol on artery walls, per the Mayo Clinic. Pre-diabetes is a “higher-than-normal” level of blood sugar that doesn’t qualify for diabetes.

Both conditions can be improved with lifestyle changes as Lennon pointed out in his caption.

“Even with these ailments, I’ve managed to catch them early enough, to be able to reverse some of the damage and will hopefully be able to live a healthy long life!” he said.

“Please get checked out, before you’re checked out…,” Lennon wrote.

“And last but not least, thanks to all the Doctors who have helped and guided me on this new journey so far… Truly.”
