A tense off-camera exchange between Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a Fox News producer erupted into public view this week, igniting a fresh war of words between the New York Democrat and conservative media host Jesse Watters.
According to the New York Post, the confrontation unfolded when Ocasio-Cortez was approached about appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
Instead of entertaining the invitation, the congresswoman launched into a furious denunciation of the show’s host, accusing Watters of sexual harassment and exploitative rhetoric.
“He has sexualized and harassed me on his show,” Ocasio-Cortez told producer Johnny Belisario. “He has sexually harassed me on his show. He has engaged in horrific, sexually exploitative rhetoric.”
Belisario pushed back, telling her, “That’s not true, Congresswoman.”
Ocasio-Cortez was unmoved.
“It is true,” she shot back, “because he accused me sleeping — of wanting to quote, unquote, sleep with Stephen Miller. So why don’t you tell me what you think is acceptable to tell a woman? Thank you.”
The exchange was captured on video by Pablo Manríquez of Migrant Insider and later circulated widely online by MeidasTouch contributor Acyn Torabi, quickly gaining traction across social media.
The Bronx and Queens lawmaker was referencing comments Watters made last October on Fox News’ “The Five,” following her criticism of White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller. During that segment, Watters speculated about Ocasio-Cortez’s motivations.
“I think AOC wants to sleep with Miller,” Watters said at the time. “I’m sorry you can’t have him. Miller is the best. I know him well socially. The man is not overcompensating.”
Watters went on to praise Miller as “a policy savant,” adding that he “battles CNN with grace and with class and provides wise counsel to the President of the United States.” He also referred to Miller as a “sexual matador.”
Ocasio-Cortez has long been a vocal critic of Miller, particularly over his hardline views on immigration. Last year, she mocked his appearance by suggesting he was 4’10” before later walking back those remarks.
“I don’t believe in body-shaming,” she said at the time. “I want to express my love for the short king community,” later clarifying, “I am talking about how big or small someone is on the inside.”
After finishing her heated exchange with Belisario, Ocasio-Cortez stormed off. She later doubled down on her criticism in a post on X.
“You can either be a pervert or ask me to be on your little show,” she wrote. “Not both. Good luck!”
