An Ole Miss Rebels football player was shot dead Saturday in Tennessee.
Eighteen-year-old Corey Adams was found in a vehicle near a residential area in Cordova, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) posted on X.
The shooting happened at about 10:14 p.m. local time.
Adams was a defensive end for the University of Mississippi’s Ole Miss Rebels, People reported.
According to the sheriff’s department post, “When deputies arrived at the intersection of Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove, they stopped a vehicle, finding an adult male gunshot victim. They provided life-saving measures until Shelby County Fire arrived. Shelby County Fire personnel later pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.”
The statement continued, stating multiple shell casings were found at the scene. Four other males with gunshot wounds were taken to area hospitals by personal vehicles.
They were listed in noncritical condition.

Ole Miss Football shared a post on X, stating the organization was “trying to cope” with Adams’ death.
“While our program is trying to cope with this tragic loss, our thoughts are with [Adams’] loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” according to the post. “Out of respect for his family, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask the Ole Miss community to keep Corey in their thoughts and respect the privacy of everyone involved.”
Adams was a native of New Orleans.
