Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) insists he has seen no sign of cognitive decline with President Joe Biden.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Schumer was asked about concerns surrounding the president’s age and about his personal interactions with him.

“I talk to President Biden regularly… usually several times in a week,” the New York senator began. “His mental acuity is great, it’s fine, it’s as good as it’s been over the years. I’ve been speaking to him for 30 years.”

Schumer added, “He’s fine. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.”

“He’s going to win the election because he’s got a great record,” the majority leader added.

Schumer’s defense of the president comes after Special Counsel Robert Hur released a report on his investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents.

Hur declined to recommend charges against the president, even though investigators “uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.”

Still, the report included several damaging sections. One portion labeled Biden a “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

In the wake of the report, two polls have found a majority of Americans think Biden is too old.

Forty three percent of respondents in the Reuters/Ipsos poll said they were familiar with Hur’s comment about the president’s memory.

The survey found 78% of respondents believe Biden is too old for the job, including 71% of Democrats.

By contrast, 53% of respondents said they believe former President Donald Trump is too old.

The Reuters survey comes days after an ABC News/Ipsos poll found a whopping 86% percent of Americans believe Biden is too old to serve another term.
