Vice President Kamala Harris is speaking out about being part of the “Firsts Club” and heading the “50 Over 50” list.

Harris is kicking off the Know Your Value and Forbes’ list of “50 incredible women over 50 who are shattering age and gender norms,” Mika Brzezinski writes in a piece published Tuesday.

“Yes, Harris has made history as the first woman and woman of color selected as vice president,” Brzezinski adds. “But perhaps more importantly, she’s utterly committed to making sure she’s not the last.”

Harris made U.S. history when she became the first female, Black and Asian American vice president.

“First, first, first, it’s gotta be wonderful but stressful,” Brzezinski said during her interview with Harris.

The vice president replied by noting out her mother told her, “Kamala you may be the first to do many things but make sure you’re not the last.”

Harris also shared that she never “imagined” her career after the age of 30, before adding, “I never thought of age and I’ve never been one to do a five-year plan.”

The vice president also pushed back against naysayers in her career, saying, “I eat no for breakfast.”

“So have I been told many times during my career things from ‘you are too young, it’s not your turn, they are not ready for you, no one like you has done it before.’ I have heard all of those things many times over the course of my career, but I didn’t listen,” she added.

The full list of women over the age of 50 is expected to be released on Wednesday.

First Lady Jill Biden declined to be on the list “because she wanted to make a place on it for another one of her fellow women,” according to Brzezinski.

“There’s a big takeaway from this list for women who are in their 50s and beyond: You have extraordinary value. You have skills. You are being counted. You are NOT a second thought,” Brzezinski writes.
