The Harris campaign raised a record-breaking $1 billion in the third quarter of 2024, according to a Monday report from The New York Times.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign and affiliated Democratic fundraising committees raised more than $359 million in September, compared with the $160 million raised by former President Donald Trump’s campaign and related committees, according to the NYT. The Harris campaign also outspent the Trump campaign by a margin of around 3.5 to 1 in September.

The majority of both campaigns’ spending went toward advertisements, according to the NYT.

Financial support for Harris has skyrocketed since she became the presumed Democratic presidential candidate following President Joe Biden stepping down from the presidential race in July. The Harris campaign has largely been focusing on fundraising efforts and celebrity sit-downs as election day draws nearer.

Dozens of corporate executives have donated to the Harris campaign since July. Many lobbyists have also donated to her campaign, despite the campaign reportedly claiming that it does not accept money from lobbyists.

Netflix saw a spike in subscription cancellations in July after Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings endorsed Harris and donated $7 million to her campaign.

Republicans have been attempting to amp up political fundraising efforts as several GOP leaders raise concerns over the massive amount that they are being outspent by Democrats. Democratic campaigns and groups backing them were ahead of their Republican counterparts by $500 million in advertisement spending as of September.

The Biden campaign raised a record $383 million in September 2020 during his presidential bid against Trump.

Republican Rep. Bryan Steil of Wisconsin called for five states to launch probes into ActBlue, a well-known Democratic fundraising platform, over concerns of potential criminal activity in September. Republicans have also previously raised concerns of loopholes that could increase the risk of fraudulent contributions being made to the fundraising platform.

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
